Istanbul Pera Museum




Pera Museum is the a private museum that was founded by the Suna and Inan Kirac Foundation on 2005. The museum is located at Tepebasi in an impressive historical building that was originally conceived as the Bristol Hotel, located at the Tepebasi neighborhood across from the right down end of the Istiklal Street in Beyoglu district. Pera Museum is also one of the best museums in Istanbul.


What to See at the Pera Museum?


Permanent collections of “Orientalist Paintings”, “Anatolian Weights and Measures”, and “Kutahya Tiles and Ceramics” are exhibited at the Pera Museum as well as various other exhibitions, publications, audio-visual events, educational activities.

The museum also made joint projects with the leading international museums, collections, and foundations and exhibited many collections such as Jean Dubuffet, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Rembrandt, Niko Pirosmani, Josef Koudelka, Joan Miró, Akira Kurosawa, Marc Chagall, Pablo Picasso, Fernando Botero, Frida Kahlo, Diego Rivera, and Goya.



All of the exhibitions of the Pera Museum are accompanied by books, catalogues, audio-visual events in addition to education programs. Also the Pera Film offers a wide range of screenings that extend from classics and independent movies to animated films and documentaries.

Pera Museum Visiting Information and Ticket Price


Visiting Hours: Pera Museum is open from Tuesday - Saturday 10:00-19:00, Sunday 12:00-18:00, Closed on Mondays
Long Fridays: Pera Museum is open and free of admissions from 18:00 to 22:00 every Friday
Young Wednesdays: Pera Museum is free of admissions for students every Wednesday
Hours of Ticket Sale: counters close 30 mins. before the museum closing time.
Special days: not available for visiting in the first days of Ramadan and Sacrifice Festivals for half time.
Ticket Price: Adult: 20 TL, Concessions: 10 TL (12 years old or younger, students, faculty, 60 years and over), Group: 15 TL (minimum 10 people)
Free of charge: Friends of Pera Museum, handicapped individuals plus one companion, children aged 12 or below, ICOM cardholders and members of the press are free of admission charges.
Müzekart+ holders can visit Pera Museum with a 20% discounted admission, and 15% discount at Artshop and Pera Café!

Where is the Pera Museum and How to Get There?


Pera Museum is situated at the Tepebasi neighborhood across from the right down end of the Istiklal Street in Beyoglu district. 1,1 km. from the Taksim Square, and 400 meters from Tunel Square.

Getting to Pera Museum is very easy if you stay in Taksim. You can just walk down the Istiklal Street to the Tunel Square to reach Pera Museum.

From Sultanahmet; take the Bagcilar-Kabatas tram (T1 line) from the Sultanahmet stop and hop off at the Karakoy stop, and than walk upwards ro take the Tunel-Karakoy funicular (F2 line) to reach the end of Istiklal Street, or hop off at the Kabatas stop and take the Taksim-Kabatas funicular (F1 line) to reach Taksim Square.
